CMS Recruitment Limited is partnering with a leading organisation in Northumberland to recruit an Assistant Health, Safety and Environmental Manager.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing specialist health, safety, and environmental advice to ensure the well-being of all colleagues, third parties, and visitors to sites.

The role involves supporting the implementation of health, safety, and environmental best practices and driving a culture focused on positive and proactive health, safety, and environmental principles within the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide professional advice to colleagues, sub-contractors, and other third parties on all aspects of health, safety, and environmental issues.
  • Conduct health, safety, and environmental activities, including audits, inspections, risk assessments, and training, including toolbox talks and training delivery.
  • Monitor and review health, safety, and environmental performance in line with statutory requirements.
  • Support the development and updating of health, safety, and environmental policies, including local workplace instructions.
  • Support the development, implementation, and ongoing review of safety processes and systems of work to ensure compliance with policies and health, safety, and environmental legislation.
  • Support the wider team to ensure all company and legislative health, safety, and environmental requirements are included in third-party contracts.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Management Team.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrate thorough and up-to-date knowledge of health and safety legislation.
  • Be a chartered member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH).
  • Hold a National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) Certificate.
  • Have experience of carrying out specialist risk assessments.
  • Be able to deliver training and toolbox talks.
  • Hold a full UK driving license and have access to a vehicle.
  • Have experience of managing relationships with multiple stakeholders and compliance with external protocols and legislative requirements.
