Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Clinical Practice Nurse to become a vital member of our exceptional nursing team at a welcoming healthcare facility, offering up to 22.5 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

As part of a multidisciplinary team, the successful candidate will ensure that proficient nursing services are delivered effectively to our patient population. The Clinical Practice Nurse will be responsible for:

  • Conducting health promotion and chronic disease management.
  • Implementing health prevention strategies and managing well-women clinics.
  • Performing general treatment room tasks, including wound care, administering injections, childhood immunizations, and ear irrigation.

Our team consists of a supportive group of healthcare professionals, including GP Partners, salaried GPs, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, and various support staff, all dedicated to delivering high-quality care.

We are also involved in training and supporting student nurses and other healthcare students, fostering an environment of learning and development.

Job Duties

The main responsibilities include:

  • Assessing patients' health needs and implementing appropriate nursing interventions.
  • Managing care for patients with stable or chronic conditions according to established protocols.
  • Maintaining high standards of infection control to protect patients and staff.
  • Engaging patients and their families in health management and promoting overall well-being.
  • Referring patients to other clinical team members as necessary.
  • Keeping accurate records of all clinical activities in accordance with practice protocols.
  • Contributing to clinical governance activities, including audits and evaluations.
  • Supporting the practice team in maintaining health, safety, and security standards.
  • Identifying personal development needs through appraisal and supervision.
  • Recognizing patients' readiness to change and supporting their health behavior modifications.
  • Being proficient in emergency response techniques.
  • Advising patients on screening programs.
  • Administering vaccinations under appropriate guidelines.
  • Ensuring the safe handling and disposal of medical supplies.
  • Conducting opportunistic health screenings.
  • Providing the highest standard of care to all patients.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • Relevant experience in a primary care setting.
  • Understanding of infection prevention and control practices.
  • Experience in managing chronic diseases.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Knowledge of clinical governance principles.
  • Familiarity with Patient Group Directions (PGDs) and related policies.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Ability to effectively utilize resources.
  • Disclosure Barring Service check.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development relevant to the role.

Desirable:

  • Qualifications in Adult and Child Immunization.
  • Accredited training in Asthma, COPD, Spirometry, or FENO.
  • Current registration in Cervical Cytology.
  • Teaching or mentoring qualifications.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Registered General Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Council.
