Electrical Design Engineer

Royal IHC is seeking a proactive and motivated Electrical Design Engineer to join our team in Newcastle city centre.

You will be responsible for contributing to a variety of exciting and bespoke engineering projects within our Offshore Energy product market group.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Electrical Design across various project scopes
  • Developing comprehensive specifications for electrical systems
  • Selecting appropriate components and materials
  • Estimating project costs accurately
  • Providing technical support to our valued customers
  • Creating inspection and test plans, including FAT documentation
  • Contributing to the standardization and efficiency of electrical department processes
  • Independently managing the electrical design of work packs or projects
  • Delivering complex engineering solutions within agreed timeframes and budgets
  • Proactively planning, estimating, forecasting, and executing projects according to established plans
  • Offering technical guidance for commissioning and installation activities
  • Actively collaborating with teams across the business
  • Demonstrating a commitment to continuous learning and professional development
Your Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Diploma degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Recent experience in a similar role within a bespoke engineering environment
  • Proven expertise in designing:
    • Power distribution systems at both 230V & 440VAC
    • Machine control and instrumentation systems
    • Control Panel design
    • Motor starter or VSD design
  • Proficiency in Electrical CAD packages
  • Experience working within ISO9001 or equivalent quality management systems
  • Eplan Electric P8 experience is highly desirable
  • Previous experience within the Marine / Offshore industry
  • Working knowledge of DNV GL & Lloyds rules and regulations
  • Experience with Subsea Vehicles, including High Voltage system design
  • Knowledge & experience of relevant functional safety standards (IEC61508, IEC61511, IEC13849)
  • Commissioning & Test experience is advantageous
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to effectively collaborate within teams, departments, and project groups
  • Strong proficiency with IT systems and tools
