Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Firmware Engineer to join our Firmware Design team in Brighton. In this role, you will collaborate with various development disciplines to design and enhance firmware for our products, creating scalable and optimized embedded software solutions.

  • Translate project requirements into effective firmware solutions for our range of wireless door locks, readers, controllers, and peripherals.
  • Develop and modify firmware architectures across diverse technologies, including embedded Linux, ARM Cortex-A and M, RTOS, BLE, Zigbee, RFID, UARTs, video, and audio.
  • Work closely with Electronics, Mechanical, and Manufacturing teams to propose solutions and identify potential risks.
  • Interface with Application Software to optimize product performance and provide pre- and post-production support.
  • Design, test, and debug existing firmware products.
  • Provide clear technical updates on progress and issues to project teams.
  • Participate in technical forums and contribute to decision-making processes to ensure task progression.
  • Communicate technical changes effectively to the team and support colleagues in their deliverables.
  • Adhere to company design processes and procedures.
  • Evaluate the suitability of third-party and open-source software.

Candidate Profile

  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and decision-making abilities.
  • Hands-on experience with Embedded Systems and a strong background in a similar role.
  • Proficient in Agile methodologies, IDEs (such as Keil Studio, Eclipse, Visual Studio), and programming languages (C, C++, and Python).
