Job Title: Principal Pensions Administrator

We are seeking an experienced Principal Pensions Administrator to join our team at MERJE. As a key member of our pension administration team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day administration of occupational pension schemes, ensuring that all tasks are completed to the required standards and deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Carry out complex pension administration tasks and calculations, including the management of treasury and payroll in accordance with internal processes and company policies.
  • Accountable for ensuring the delivery of specific client workloads and managing the delivery of admin projects.
  • Supervise, train, coach, and mentor staff, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Check and authorise other administrators' work, ensuring accuracy and quality.
  • Attend Trustee and ad hoc client meetings as required, providing updates and insights to stakeholders.
  • Manage pensioner payrolls, pension increases, and ensure timely notification of the lifetime allowance used to pensioners.
  • Manage trustee bank accounts and investment of contributions, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Assist the client account manager with documentation and tasks related to client responsibilities.
  • Prioritise work to ensure Service Level Agreements are maintained, and client work is processed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Deal with non-standard client/member queries, providing prompt and professional communication.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in occupational pension scheme administration, including management and mentoring of team members.
  • Logical approach to problem-solving, with attention to detail and ability to prioritise workloads.
  • Knowledge of complex manual calculations and ability to break down and explain them in simple terms.
  • Prompt and professional communication with clients and scheme members, including via letter, email, and telephone.
  • Confidence in providing feedback and ability to motivate direct reports.
