The Role

We are seeking an experienced Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Advisor to join our team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in HSE, with a Nebosh Diploma in Health and Safety and IEMA Environmental Management certificate. The ideal candidate will have a practical hands-on-site-approach and excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Implementation and review of HSE management system, ensuring compliance with ISO 45001 and 14001 requirements and HSE legislation.
  • Manage, implement, and review site documentation, including construction phase plans, environmental management plans, traffic management plans, emergency response plans, and waste management.
  • Conduct site investigations, update incident registers, and assist teams with the close-out of actions.
  • Chair Safety meetings with employees, participate in client site-specific meetings, and consultative forums.
  • Review internal and subcontractor risk assessments and method statements, COSHH assessments, and subcontractor pre-qualification questionnaires.
  • Assist with the development of risk assessments and implement ACS safety-critical operating procedures.
  • Plan, conduct, and implement training for operatives, staff, and management in aspects of HSE.
  • Liaison with clients regarding HSE-related matters.
  • Assist with monthly KPI reporting and share with the HSE Manager and Board.
  • Promote a positive behavioural-based safety and just culture.
  • Any other tasks related to maintaining a safe working environment.

Qualifications and Skills

  • 5 years' experience in a Safety, Health, and Environmental Role.
  • Nebosh Health and Safety Diploma or equivalent.
  • IEMA Environmental Management certificate.
  • Nebosh General Certificate and/or Nebosh Construction Certificate.
  • Practical hands-on-site-approach.
  • Team player with excellent communication skills.
  • Experience with monitoring and review of working at height activities.
  • Planning/Organizing, Problem-solving/Reasoning/Creativity, Good communication skills, Computer/Technical Literacy, Flexibility/Adaptability/Managing Multiple Priorities, Leadership/Management Skills, and Multicultural Sensitivity/Awareness.

Desirable Requirements

  • Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) or Site Supervision Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS).
  • Grad IOSH or working towards CMIOSH status and IEMA membership.
  • Nebosh Fire Safety and Risk Management certificate.
  • First aid at work.
  • Temporary Works Coordinator/Supervisor (TWC/TWS).
  • Lifting (Crane Supervisor).
  • Scaffold Inspection certificate.
  • Lead Auditor qualification.
