About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Community Development Officer to join our team at GAVO. As a key member of our outreach and engagement team, you will play a vital role in supporting and strengthening community groups across Gwent.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have a strong background in community development, with experience of working in the third sector. You will be able to deliver support and advice to a wide range of audiences, maximising engagement and benefit. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as well as strong ICT skills and the ability to work independently.

Essential Criteria

  • Experience of working in the third sector, either as a paid employee or volunteer
  • Practical experience of working in the community development field
  • Ability to deliver support and advice to a wide range of audiences
  • Strong ICT skills, including the use of Microsoft Office suite
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience of working in a coordination or management role for a community venue or hub
  • Good working knowledge of the main social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram)
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent, or recognised qualification/experience relevant to the post
