Job Title: English and Maths Tutor

Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Primary Industry: Education and Training

Salary: £30,000 - £32,000 Per annum

This role is based on-site at a correctional facility, working with youth offenders to help them achieve their qualifications and improve their opportunities upon release.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and deliver engaging and effective English and Maths lessons
  • Assess the educational needs of students and develop tailored teaching plans
  • Provide support and guidance to students to help them improve their English and Maths skills
  • Monitor student progress and adjust teaching methods accordingly
  • Communicate with parents, teachers, and other stakeholders regarding student progress
Required Qualifications:
  • Relevant degree in English, Maths, Education, or related field
  • Teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent)
  • Enhanced DBS check
  • The employer is willing to support candidates in obtaining a Level 5 teaching qualification, which may impact the salary
Education:

A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in English, Maths, Education, or a related field is required

Experience:

Proven experience in teaching English and Maths to students of varying abilities is essential

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Strong understanding of the English and Maths curriculum
  • Ability to create engaging lesson plans
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Effective classroom management skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Education or a related field
  • Experience working with students with special educational needs
Working Conditions:
  • Working hours: Monday to Thursday 7:45am - 5pm, Friday 7:45am - 12:30pm
