Role Overview

As a vital member of the Global Communications team, you will take a prominent role in shaping Valneva's internal communication strategy and oversee its execution through various initiatives and campaigns.

You will be responsible for creating and managing content across multiple internal and external communication platforms, demonstrating proficiency in utilizing and updating digital tools, including the staff intranet and corporate website.

Your responsibilities will include planning, preparing, and distributing high-quality communications internally to our global workforce and, when necessary, externally to various stakeholders, including the media and investor community.

You will provide support to the VP of Global Communications and European Investor Relations, as well as other team members, with general communications tasks, which may include updating Q&As, maintaining media databases, proofreading publications and reports, collaborating with agencies, and preparing financial publications and other routine communications.

Key Responsibilities

Internal Communications (50% of role)

  • Assist in developing Valneva's internal communications strategy to engage employees and foster advocacy. Lead its implementation through various initiatives, tracking progress with metrics and surveys.
  • Manage and update the company intranet, leading its redevelopment.
  • Create an internal content plan aligned with company strategy and current topics, including writing and publishing global news articles.
  • Collaborate closely with Human Resources to ensure high-quality internal communications that align in tone, brand, and messaging cadence.
  • Train and oversee other contributors to the intranet.

External Communications (25% of role)

  • Support the drafting of press releases for publication on the company website and lead their distribution through newswire services, external mailing lists, social media, and internal announcements.
  • Assist in planning and organizing both in-person and virtual events, including internal meetings and social gatherings, as well as financial results conference calls/webcasts.
  • Maintain company distribution lists.

Project Delivery and Daily Operations (25% of role)

  • Support communications related to financial publications and other projects (e.g., video production, on-site photography).
  • Conduct proofreading and copyediting tasks.
  • Compile and distribute the daily Press Review.
  • Prepare presentations.
  • Assist in creating and updating global communication materials (e.g., Q&As, executive summaries).
  • Support the response to French-language ESG questionnaires and requests from French investors.
  • Provide guidance to the Executive Committee on all communications matters.

Required Qualifications

  • Fluency in French (C1 level or above) in both written and spoken forms.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong writing abilities with a knack for simplifying complex information for general audiences.
  • High proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (especially Illustrator, InDesign, and Premiere Pro), Mailchimp, WordPress, and other digital platforms, including social media.
  • Video editing and design skills are a plus.
