The post holder will provide administrative support to the central patient safety team and the bereavement office, ensuring the smooth delivery of the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF) and other quality improvement initiatives.
Main DutiesQuality and Safety- Support the development and implementation of patient safety policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with the patient safety team to identify and mitigate risks, and to develop and maintain a centralized log of safety actions and quality improvement projects.
- Ensure timely completion of safety actions and test of effectiveness, and identify and highlight duplicate actions and quality improvement projects.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, patients, and families.
- Provide administrative support to the patient safety team, including photocopying, scanning, and uploading of documents, and managing the team's diary and meeting invites.
- Provide compassionate and empathetic support to bereaved families, including signposting to bereavement services and resources.
- Manage the bereavement office, including keeping accurate records, making post-death notifications, and facilitating the release of deceased patients' property and valuables.
- Collaborate with the bereavement midwives and other departments to ensure that all paperwork relating to infant deaths is correctly completed.
- Support the Mortality Improvement Lead in the preparation and submission of evidence for annual assessments and key performance indicators.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Significant experience of working in an administrative role, with a strong understanding of patient safety and bereavement procedures.
- Competent user of Microsoft Office, with experience of using electronic patient records (EPR) systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible and adaptable approach to work.
