Job Overview

An exceptional opportunity has arisen to take charge of our specialized Spinal Care Services. We are in search of a dedicated and highly qualified clinician with advanced practice credentials and leadership capabilities to join our esteemed leadership team. This role offers the chance to collaborate with a vibrant team of professionals, contributing to the enhancement and delivery of spinal services for complex cases, allowing you to apply your leadership and clinical expertise in the evaluation and treatment of spinal disorders.

You will operate both autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team alongside spinal and pain specialists, managing a diverse caseload of chronic and sub-acute back and neck pain patients.

This full-time position is flexible in terms of working locations within the designated area.

Main Responsibilities

• Provide strategic, professional, clinical, and operational guidance for Advanced Practice Spinal Physiotherapists (APSPs).

• Inspire and empower the APSP workforce while fostering inclusivity among practitioners at various levels.

• Establish, implement, and uphold a comprehensive governance framework for recruitment, employment, and professional development of all APSPs.

• Oversee the clinical and operational management of the Spinal Care Services, ensuring compliance with all contractual obligations.

• Drive the continuous improvement of the Spinal Care Services, delivering advanced clinical care models informed by contemporary best practices and evidence-based guidelines.

• Collaborate closely with spinal consultants, pain specialists, general practitioners, and established physiotherapy teams to facilitate service enhancements and innovations, ensuring optimal patient experiences across the organization.

• Maintain a highly advanced clinical caseload with full professional autonomy, encompassing patient assessments, diagnostic procedures, and treatment for a complex patient demographic.

Job Responsibilities

• Lead the strategic development of the Spinal Care Services, aligning with the broader organizational goals and local, regional, and national strategies.

• Function as an autonomous expert practitioner, providing comprehensive spinal assessments for a cohort of complex patients, including those with serious pathologies. Assessment techniques will encompass detailed history taking, advanced physical examinations, and diagnostic procedures.

• Assume overall responsibility for developing and implementing an educational framework to enhance the roles and skills of APSPs across the organization, ensuring access to high-quality training for all clinicians.

• Collaborate with APSPs to initiate, develop, and execute research and development programs for spinal services.

Knowledge

Essential

  • Extensive clinical experience and knowledge in the relevant specialty.
  • Evidence of recent education in the clinical area.
  • Understanding of professional ethics and their application in practice.
  • Demonstrated involvement in clinical governance and risk assessment.
  • Broad knowledge of health legislation.
  • Awareness of current NHS and educational issues.

Qualifications

  • Degree or Graduate Diploma in a relevant therapy.
  • MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice or equivalent.
  • Significant post-qualification experience (minimum 5 years) in Musculoskeletal and Spinal specialist roles.
  • HCPC registration.
  • Evidence of ongoing education.

Desirable

  • Membership in relevant special interest groups.
  • Management or leadership training.
  • CSP membership.

  • Demonstrated theoretical and practical skills in advanced clinical practice and clinical reasoning in musculoskeletal and spinal physiotherapy.
