Residential Childcare Worker Opportunity

Pioneering People is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Residential Childcare Worker to join our team. As a Residential Childcare Worker, you will play a vital role in providing support, care, and guidance to children and adolescents living in a residential facility.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct care and supervision to children & young people in a residential setting.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans for each child & young person, addressing their unique needs and challenges.
  • Foster positive relationships with children & young people, building trust and rapport through empathy, patience, and understanding.
  • Promote a structured and supportive environment by implementing daily routines, activities, and behaviour management techniques.
  • Encourage children and young people to attend/participate in education and/or employment.
  • Collaborate with other staff members, including social workers, therapists, and educators, to ensure the holistic well-being of each child.
  • Monitor and document children's progress, behaviours, and any incidents according to organizational policies and procedures.
  • Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques when necessary to maintain a safe environment.
  • Support children in developing life skills, social skills, and independence through various activities and interventions.
  • Advocate for children's rights and needs, ensuring they receive appropriate services and resources.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in child welfare and residential care practices.
Requirements:
  • NVQ Level 3 in Children Residential Care (willing to complete or working towards)
  • Previous experience working with children and adolescents in a residential or similar setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with children from diverse backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of child development, trauma-informed care, and behavioural management techniques.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record (if transportation of children is part of the job duties).
  • Must pass background checks and complete mandatory training.
