Position Overview:

Boskalis is seeking a dedicated Marine Engineering Technician responsible for the upkeep and servicing of all machinery and electrical systems aboard the vessel, while also fulfilling the duties of a GP Rating.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gain comprehensive knowledge of the vessel's design, machinery, and operational features.
  • Conduct essential checks prior to embarking on a sea journey, ensuring the vessel is fully prepared for the voyage, considering factors such as stability, stress, trim, and watertight integrity, as well as confirming adequate fuel reserves.
  • Notify the Master and Technical Superintendent of any identified deficiencies.
  • Perform regular inspections of machinery and machinery spaces to maintain awareness of the condition and operational status of all equipment.
  • Coordinate all transfers of fuel, lubricants, and fresh water.
  • Ensure that all scheduled maintenance and both routine and emergency repairs are executed, collaborating with the Maintenance Superintendent to minimize disruption to the vessel's overall operations while maximizing reliability and availability.
  • Implement all necessary measures to prevent environmental pollution.
  • Maintain accurate engine room records as mandated by the Company and relevant authorities, ensuring they are completed neatly and precisely.
  • Provide and receive a thorough handover when joining or leaving a Company vessel.
  • Stay well-informed of Company and Shipboard regulations and policies to perform duties efficiently and safely.
  • Be familiar with all safety equipment onboard and engage in safety drills and training to uphold the highest operational standards.
  • Undertake any additional responsibilities as reasonably requested by the Master or the Company.
  • Perform GP Rating duties as required.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

Mandatory:

  • AEC 1 (with the capability to obtain AEC 2)
  • Nav Watch Rating Certificate (must hold or be able to obtain)
  • ENG1 Certification
  • Elementary First Aid Certification
  • Basic Fire Fighting Training
  • Sea Survival Course Completion
  • RYA Powerboat Level 2 Certification

Preferred:

  • Understanding of the technical operation of designated equipment installations.
  • Basic knowledge of operational processes.
  • Proficient command of English (both written and spoken).
  • Familiarity with applicable Occupational Health & Safety regulations.
  • Basic ICT skills in Office and fleet management systems.
  • Formal qualification in a relevant engineering discipline.

Other Requirements:

  • Subject to UK security clearance (proof of UK residency required).
  • Possession of a full driving license.
  • Current passport.
