Boskalis is seeking a Marine Engineering Technician responsible for the upkeep and repair of all machinery and electrical systems aboard the vessel while fulfilling the duties of a GP Rating.
Key Responsibilities:
- Gain comprehensive knowledge of the vessel's design, machinery, and operational features.
- Conduct necessary inspections prior to departure, ensuring the vessel is fully prepared for the journey, considering stability, stress, trim, and watertight integrity, as well as confirming adequate fuel reserves.
- Report any identified issues to the Master and Technical Superintendent.
- Perform regular assessments of machinery and engine spaces to maintain awareness of the condition and operational readiness of all machinery.
- Coordinate all transfers of fuel, lubricants, and fresh water.
- Ensure all scheduled maintenance and both routine and emergency repairs are executed efficiently, collaborating with the Maintenance Superintendent to minimize disruption to the vessel's operations and maximize plant reliability.
- Implement measures to prevent environmental pollution.
- Maintain accurate engine room records as mandated by the Company and relevant authorities.
- Facilitate thorough handovers when joining or leaving a Company vessel.
- Be well-versed in Company and Shipboard regulations to perform tasks safely and effectively.
- Familiarize oneself with all safety equipment onboard and engage in safety drills and training to uphold the highest operational standards.
- Undertake any additional responsibilities as reasonably requested by the Master or the Company.
- Perform GP Rating duties as required.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
Mandatory:
- AEC 1 (with the capability to obtain AEC 2)
- Nav Watch Rating Certificate (must hold or be able to obtain)
- ENG1 Certification
- Elementary First Aid Certification
- Basic Fire Fighting Training
- Sea Survival Course Completion
- RYA Powerboat Level 2 Certification
Preferred:
- Understanding of the technical operations of designated equipment installations.
- Basic knowledge of operational processes.
- Proficient command of English (both written and spoken).
- Awareness of applicable Occupational Health & Safety regulations.
- Basic ICT skills, including familiarity with office and fleet management systems.
- Formal qualification in a relevant engineering discipline.
Additional Requirements:
- Subject to UK security clearance (proof of UK residency required).
- Possession of a full driving license.
- Valid passport.
