About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled IT professional to lead our organisation's IT transformation project. As the Head of IT Transformation, you will play a pivotal role in driving the modernisation of our IT systems, aligning IT innovation with our business goals, and ensuring that every step of the transformation aligns with long-term business objectives.

This is a strategic position that requires a strong leader who can navigate the complexities of working with multiple stakeholders, senior leadership, and a diverse team of IT professionals. You will be responsible for developing a strong project strategy, leading the execution, and ensuring that key milestones are hit on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities
  • Take full ownership of the IT transformation project from start to finish, ensuring it aligns with our strategic objectives.
  • Develop a strong project strategy and lead the execution, making sure that key milestones are hit on time and within budget.
  • Identify where inefficiencies lie and how technology can address these gaps, working closely with Business Analysts, IT professionals, and department heads.
  • Implement innovative solutions that increase operational efficiency and effectiveness across the business.
  • Oversee the selection and implementation of new cloud technologies, working with key vendors to ensure that the tools and platforms selected meet the highest standards of quality and performance.
  • Manage relationships with external partners to ensure that all deliverables are met on time and within the agreed scope.
  • Cross-functional collaboration will be a key component of your role, working with various teams across the business to ensure that the technology transformation is fully aligned with operational needs.
  • Conduct in-depth analyses of current business operations, identifying gaps and opportunities, and propose innovative solutions to address them.
  • Lead the migration of core systems to the cloud, ensuring that this new environment is flexible, secure, and scalable.
  • Implement containerisation strategies using technologies like Docker and Kubernetes, driving efficiency and flexibility in our IT architecture.
  • Serve as the main point of contact between the IT department and business leaders, ensuring that there is constant, clear communication about progress, risks, and outcomes.
  • Regularly update senior management and the board, providing insights and feedback on the project's trajectory.
  • Manage risks effectively, foreseeing potential challenges, especially with the adoption of new technologies, and developing contingency plans to address them.
  • Establish and maintain robust governance and reporting frameworks, creating and maintaining structures that allow for regular review of project progress, addressing risks, and escalating issues when necessary.
  • Oversee the project's financials, ensuring that the project stays within budget, collaborating with HR and recruitment to secure the right talent for the project.
Requirements
  • Extensive experience in IT project management, with a focus on large-scale transformation projects.
  • At least 10 years of experience in the field, including 5+ years in senior positions where you've successfully led significant IT overhauls.
  • Deep understanding of cloud-based architectures, with hands-on experience using platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Strong technical knowledge of system integration, software development lifecycles, and IT infrastructure management.
  • Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and guide teams, as well as influence senior stakeholders across the organisation.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage both technical teams and business leaders alike.
  • Experience in risk management and change management, with the ability to identify and mitigate risks, and lead an organisation through significant technological and operational changes.
  • Strong background in managing budgets and resources, with the ability to oversee a multi-million-pound project budget and ensure efficient use of both internal and external resources.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Certifications in project management (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2), IT service management (e.g., ITIL), or cloud-specific certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect) are highly desirable.
