About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled SSC Associate to join our team at BDO UK. As an SSC Associate, you will play a critical role in ensuring the effective implementation and maintenance of our Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake internal quality assurance reviews to confirm that all appropriate onboarding due diligence has been carried out, in line with agreed processes.
  • Creation and management of internal review reporting, including initial findings, draft and final reports, and necessary issues and actions logs.
  • Act as an AML/CTO2 Champion, maintaining knowledge and expertise, and supporting and developing colleagues across the SSC and BDO.
  • Deal with internal queries from client/project teams and SSC teams on AML guidance and its application.
  • Liaise with partners and senior stakeholders to resolve and remediate any deficiencies identified during the review process.
  • Support the BAU team with ad-hoc projects for standard due diligence/enhanced due diligence and research teams, as requested by the ATE QA Team Lead and Economic Crime Team.
  • Provide ongoing support to the firm's Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) and Economic Crime Team, alongside regular feedback on key areas of fault identified during reviews.
Requirements
  • Knowledge and experience of the Anti-Money Laundering Regulations and their implementation/application in real-world scenarios.
  • Strong IT skills, including a working knowledge of MS Office, including Access, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Internet research.
  • Well-presented with a professional level of communication.
  • Strong verbal communication and experience dealing with difficult conversations.
  • Strong written communication, with experience collating information into navigable and clear reports, including a high-level summary of key points.
  • Experience with time management and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritize and support an organized workload.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience and knowledge of heightening risk factors within AML/KYC and appropriate mitigating points.
  • Knowledge of business/key terms within the accounting/audit/professional services industry and the application of AML principles in these areas.
  • Detailed understanding of typical corporate structures, ultimate beneficial ownership of organizations/entities, and appreciation of influence and control over bodies corporate.
  • Ability to use own initiative and take a risk-based approach.
  • Good telephone manner.
