We are excited to announce a vacancy for a committed and enthusiastic Consultant in Haematology, specializing in Myeloma and Lymphoma, at Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Candidates who are unable to commit to full-time hours for personal reasons will be considered for this position; if selected, adjustments to the job responsibilities will be discussed on an individual basis with the Trust in collaboration with fellow consultants. Should additional openings arise, shortlisted candidates will be taken into account.

Key Responsibilities

As a consultant at our facility, you will join a team of five Haematologists delivering both clinical and laboratory Haematology services. Your role will also involve participating in the on-call Haematology service, which encompasses ward rounds and after-hours duties (currently on a 1:5 rota). You will be expected to engage in the strategic planning of Haematology services in partnership with other consultants and hospital management.

The primary location for this role will be at our main hospital, with potential outpatient sessions at an additional facility.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential Qualifications

  • Full and specialist registration (with a license to practice) with the General Medical Council (GMC) or eligibility for registration within a specified timeframe.
  • Haematology Specialist Registration or, for UK-trained applicants, possession of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or being within a specified timeframe of receiving the CCT at the time of interview.
  • Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists or evidence of an equivalent qualification.
  • Membership of the Royal College of Physicians or evidence of an equivalent qualification.

Additional Requirements

  • Commitment to Continuing Medical Education and adherence to Clinical Governance and Audit standards.
  • Experience in managing patients involved in clinical trials.
  • Demonstrated teaching abilities with evidence of training for the role.
  • Experience necessary to fulfill all aspects of the job plan.
  • Understanding of all facets related to the specific focus of the role.
  • Desirable: Five years of supervised training in an appropriate higher specialist training scheme or equivalent program.
