Opportunity for a Senior Consultant in Geriatric Psychiatry

We are seeking a committed Senior Consultant in Geriatric Psychiatry to enhance our services at Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. This position entails offering medical oversight for a multi-disciplinary team within a specialized ward dedicated to patients experiencing dementia and other psychiatric conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive medical and psychiatric evaluations to inform care strategies and risk management
  • Ensure accurate clinical documentation through the Trust's electronic health record system
  • Engage in job plan assessments and yearly performance reviews
  • Mentor junior medical personnel and provide educational support to medical students

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • MB BS or an equivalent medical degree
  • MRCPsych with a Certificate of Completion of Training in Geriatric Psychiatry
  • Full registration with the General Medical Council and listed on the Specialist Register
  • Strong clinical expertise and proficiency in the field
  • Capability to navigate clinical complexities and make informed, evidence-based choices

Professional Development and Skills:

  • Facilitate educational initiatives and engage in ongoing professional development
  • Utilize and evaluate clinical evidence, spearhead clinical audits for service enhancement
  • Involvement in research, audit activities, and service evaluation efforts
