Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team at Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing medical leadership and clinical expertise to our Old Age Psychiatry service.

Main Responsibilities

The post holder will be expected to:

  • Provide medical leadership to the multi-disciplinary team on Orchid ward
  • Conduct medical and psychiatric assessments to inform care planning and risk assessment
  • Complete administrative tasks related to clinical responsibilities
  • Maintain good clinical records using the Trust's electronic record system
  • Participate in local leadership meetings and work with operational leads on service development and quality improvement

Our service caters to the needs of all people suffering from dementia, regardless of age, and those presenting with severe and enduring mental health illnesses.

We provide services in an in-patient and community basis, comprising of various teams, including Intensive Home Treatment Team, Rapid Response Liaison Psychiatry, Community Mental Health Teams, Memory Assessment Services, and more.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification
  • MRCPsych with CCT in Old Age Psychiatry
  • Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practice at the time of appointment
  • Approved clinician status or ability to achieve within 3 months of appointment
  • Excellent knowledge in Old Age Psychiatry
  • Excellent clinical skills using a bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our service.
