Position Overview

Are you a skilled Children's Physiotherapy Specialist eager to enhance your clinical and leadership capabilities?

As an independent practitioner, you will be part of a well-established group of healthcare professionals, managing a diverse caseload of children and adolescents with various conditions, including neurological, developmental, and musculoskeletal issues, across both urban and rural settings.

Travel will be necessary based on service requirements, and as a community-based team, having access to a vehicle for work-related purposes and a valid UK driving licence is essential.

Our service focuses on the assessment and treatment of children and young individuals with physical challenges, aged 0-19 years. We collaborate closely with families and caregivers in multiple environments, including special and mainstream educational institutions, homes, and community health facilities.

You will be expected to utilize and refine your skills through various methodologies and treatment techniques while working collaboratively with colleagues from different disciplines to provide a child-centered, comprehensive approach to care. Additionally, you will play a role in the development of fellow staff members and the overall service.

Key Responsibilities

The Children's Physiotherapy Service offers clinical placements for students from Keele University, and the successful candidate will receive support to become a clinical educator.

  • You will perform a physiotherapy role involving assessment, diagnosis, and evidence-based treatment plans for children in the most suitable community settings.
  • The position is anticipated to be based in and around our Staffordshire areas, although the specific location will be determined by the successful candidate.
  • Demonstrate competence as required for the role.

  • Serve as a Specialist Physiotherapist with in-depth professional and clinical expertise.
  • Be accountable for a defined group of service users aged 0-19 years across various environments, including homes, schools, and clinics within the Partnership Trust.
  • Exhibit proficiency in assessing complex/specialist care needs and in developing, implementing, and evaluating care/support plans for children and families.
  • Assume supervisory responsibilities as appropriate and engage in service development and enhancement.
  • Show initiative and creativity in problem-solving.
  • Collaborate with the Team Leader in executing delegated tasks related to team management.

HCPC Registration/Qualification

Essential

  • Degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent.
  • Modules at Master's level or equivalent clinical courses within the area of clinical expertise.
  • Experience working as a Qualified Band 6 Paediatric Physiotherapist.
  • Registration with HCPC.

Desirable

  • Master's qualification in a relevant area that supports service delivery.
  • Further clinical study relevant to practice, focusing on the management of neurological and musculoskeletal conditions.
  • Participation in relevant Special Interest Groups.

UK Driving Licence

Essential

  • Access to a personal vehicle.
  • Valid UK driving licence.

  • Experience in assessing and managing Paediatric conditions, with the ability to effectively manage time and caseload. Supporting service users, families, and caregivers in addressing issues within the clinical specialty. Working within a multidisciplinary team. Experience in negotiation and conflict resolution in clinical scenarios. Presentation skills.
  • Evidence of specialist clinical knowledge relevant to the position. Understanding of Information Governance, Data Protection, HCPC/CSP standards, and Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults/Children. Knowledge of relevant National Service Frameworks and NICE guidelines. Understanding of the broader NHS agenda and its application to the local context.

  • Evidence of project work. Experience in managing and implementing change.
