Job Title: Deputy Director Policy

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Deputy Director Policy to join our team at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust.

About the Role

The Deputy Director Policy will provide leadership and management to a busy planning and control team responsible for the provision of a high-quality Non-Emergency Patient Transport Service (NEPTS) that supports clinical areas/teams and patient satisfaction.

Main Responsibilities
  • Operational Performance Management: Plan and oversee the day-to-day organisation of all staff within the Planning and Control department, requiring autonomous work to understand and drive operating targets, budget controls, and relevant HR management.
  • Management and Leadership: Day-to-day managerial responsibility for all Planners and Controllers, setting objectives and reviewing performance, identifying individual training and development needs, and promoting continued personal and professional development.
  • Quality, Risk, and Governance: Manage the implementation and overall management of office systems, control processes, and risk management arrangements to ensure effective delivery of the NEPTS planning and control.
About Us

Our patient transport service is available for patients who cannot travel to or from our hospitals using any other method of transport due to their medical or mobility condition, or because their medical condition would otherwise worsen. We provide the service to the Guys and St Thomas's sites, including Renal and cancer services.

We are a large, busy, and friendly team with our own in-house transport team. We support each other and constantly strive to look for improvements in making our service the best it can possibly be for patients. We are part of the ISO9001 standards and have achieved positive results in our yearly external audits.

Person Specification
  • Demonstrable recent or current management experience within NEPTS at the same or similar level.
  • Experience of administering budgets and demonstrable evidence of individual, team, financial, process, and change management.
  • Evidence of supporting successful project and/or operational performance and improvement.
  • Effective people and project management skills.
