Job Title: Deputy Director of Policy, Communications and Strategy

CHM is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Director of Policy, Communications and Strategy to join their Enhanced Strategic Leadership Team. This pivotal role will play a key part in shaping the charity's story and influencing the complex systems that affect children and families.

About the Role

The Deputy Director will be responsible for leading a multi-faceted team of policy and communications staff, working across all teams and with strategic external partners to develop ambitious policy, public affairs and communication plans. This will involve harnessing the charity's specialisms within a broad understanding of children's lives, providing high-level policy and political analysis, and positioning the charity as a trusted convener, catalyst for change and champion of children and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of policy, public affairs and communication plans that highlight the fault lines in the children's system and create a powerful narrative for change.
  • Hold overall operational responsibility for the implementation of the charity's corporate strategy, including leading annual operational plans and impact reporting.
  • Work across the UK to develop and lead the charity's work with policy makers, bringing evidence and children's voice to the heart of government.
  • Lead a team of policy and communications staff, providing guidance and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality work.
Requirements

The successful candidate will have a strong track record of experience in policy and communications, with a deep understanding of the charity sector and the issues affecting children and families. They will be a strategic thinker with excellent leadership and communication skills, able to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
