Job Overview
A full-time position for a Healthcare Reception Coordinator has become available at Stockbridge Village Medical Centre. The role requires working hours from 8am to 6:30pm, Monday through Friday. Prior experience in a healthcare setting is essential. Candidates must possess strong computer skills and the ability to work independently, demonstrating initiative and effective prioritization of tasks.
Flexibility to cover for colleagues during absences is a necessary requirement.
This is a permanent role, contingent upon satisfactory references and employment checks relevant to the position, along with a successful completion of a probationary period.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Welcoming, assisting, and directing patients to the appropriate services or healthcare professionals in a friendly and efficient manner.
- Performing general reception and administrative tasks as part of a collaborative team.
- Supporting other team members as needed.
- Providing a courteous and helpful service to patients.
- Managing incoming phone calls promptly to ensure all lines are covered.
- Processing prescription requests efficiently.
- Addressing patient inquiries.
- Coding clinical correspondence (if trained).
About Our Practice
Our practice serves a patient base of 8,800 and has been a cornerstone of the community since the 1970s. We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional patient care and maintaining high staff retention rates.
Our administrative team consists of 12 members, some of whom are trained in clinical areas such as phlebotomy. The senior management team, which includes a Business Manager and a Practice Manager, provides vital support to our entire team.
With three partners and three salaried GPs, you will be joining a young and supportive team environment.

Job Duties
- Scheduling appointments for general surgeries and clinics via telephone and at the reception desk using a computerized appointment system.
- Greeting patients upon arrival.
- Handling inquiries or directing them to the appropriate staff member, such as a Doctor, District Nurse, Health Visitor, or Practice Nurse.
- Performing filing and scanning tasks.
- Entering requests for home visits and notifying the on-call doctor.
- Managing repeat prescriptions to ensure they are signed and ready for collection within designated timeframes.
- Preparing new patient medical records for summarization.
- Conducting dipstick testing of urine samples prior to hospital submission.
- Ensuring all pathology samples are accurately labeled and dispatched.
- Utilizing sound judgment and effective communication skills.
- Assisting clinical staff with clerical tasks, such as flu clinics.
- Organizing nurse clinics for various health checks.
- Completing daily tasks as assigned.
- Knowledge of coding and summarizing is advantageous.
- Familiarity with RMS referrals is also beneficial.
Experience Requirements
