Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Adult Social Care Lawyer to join our dynamic and friendly Legal Team at the London Borough of Lewisham.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in Adult Social Care Law, preferably from a local authority setting, and will be able to handle a demanding and busy caseload of predominantly Adult Social Care matters.

Main Responsibilities
  • Deputise for the Senior Social Care Lawyer and handle a caseload of Adult Social Care matters, including court and advice work.
  • Advise Social Services clients on all aspects of relevant legislation and prepare legal documentation, including court documents.
  • Attend meetings with clients and external parties, professionals' meetings and panels as required, and advise on all aspects of social services work.
  • Carry out legal research and assist the Senior Social Care Lawyers and Principal Lawyer in relation to complex or specialised matters.
Requirements
  • Qualified lawyer with at least 3 years PQE (Barrister, Solicitor or CILEx) and a current practising certificate.
  • Strong background in Adult Social Care Law, preferably from a local authority setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage a demanding caseload.
