Candidate Profile

Who are we seeking?

The ideal candidate is an experienced journalist, preferably NCTJ qualified (or holding an equivalent senior qualification), with a deep understanding of media regulations and the IPSO editors' code. You might be a content editor passionate about public affairs or a seasoned senior reporter with a profound grasp of local governance, looking to transition into a desk role. Your news judgment is exceptional, and you possess the ability to inspire and motivate a team.

You can articulate political and local government topics in an engaging and innovative manner, simplifying complex information and highlighting key points of interest for the audience. Your digital publishing skills are top-notch, and you have a solid understanding of SEO, thriving in a dynamic newsroom environment. You exhibit meticulous attention to detail and can create impactful headlines and social media teasers, as well as identify and respond to analytics trends.
