Gracemount High School is a non-denominational secondary institution that caters to the educational needs of the South East Edinburgh community. Established as a junior secondary school, it has evolved into a comprehensive six-year high school.
Opened under a Public-Private Partnership, Gracemount High School boasts a leadership team that includes the Head Teacher, three Assistant Principals, a Senior Development Officer, and a Business Manager. Our dedicated team consists of 50 educators and 20 support personnel, all committed to fostering a successful and thriving educational environment. A significant portion of our student body, over 70%, comes from areas classified within the lowest quintiles of the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation. We take pride in our students, supported by a team of skilled, conscientious, and caring staff.
We are seeking to appoint a highly capable and enthusiastic Assistant Principal who is dedicated to making a meaningful impact on our community and the lives of young individuals. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to inclusivity, educational enhancement, and possess an understanding of the challenges faced in areas of considerable deprivation. Compensation will align with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.
This position involves regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act. The selected candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. If an individual has spent a continuous period of three months or more outside the UK in the last five years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be necessary. The provision of this check is a requirement. An unconditional employment offer and the commencement of the role will be contingent upon the satisfactory outcome of these pre-employment checks.
