About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse or Paramedic to join our team as a Custody Healthcare Specialist. As a key member of our custody healthcare service, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to individuals in police custody.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake comprehensive clinical assessments and provide care to individuals in police custody.
  • Provide healthcare interventions to manage minor illnesses or injuries and refer onwards for more serious conditions.
  • Undertake forensic examinations of individuals in police custody to record and document injuries and collect DNA evidence.
  • Collect specimens as required under legislation.
  • Provide written statements as required.
  • Attend court or tribunal as required.
  • Maintain accurate and complete clinical records.
  • Assess alcohol and drug intoxication and withdrawal.
  • Identify vulnerabilities and safeguarding pathways.
  • Support the clinical governance agenda of the organization.
  • Administer medications through patient group directions and patient treatment protocols.

Person Specification

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse or Paramedic who is passionate about delivering high-quality care in a custody healthcare setting. The ideal candidate will have:

  • At least 2 years of post-qualification experience as a Registered Nurse or Paramedic.
  • Excellent clinical skills and knowledge.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to delivering high-quality care and improving outcomes.
