Job Summary

Glasgow Prestwick Airport is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented IT Support Specialist to join our team. As a Graduate IT Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the efficient operation and development of all hosted IT/electronic systems and associated infrastructure at Glasgow Prestwick Airport.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1st, 2nd, and 3rd line support to all users across the site.
  • Assist with the maintenance and troubleshooting of internal network infrastructure, flight information systems, check-in and airline ticketing systems, access control systems, photocopiers/network printing, and MS Office 365.
  • Provide ad hoc support to the IT team and external contractors to resolve IT-related issues with airport PABX, mobile telephony, CCTV systems, PA systems, emergency comms, facilities customer clearance, and IT security systems.
  • Support the IT team to deliver longer-term projects relating to system installation, development, and maintenance, disaster recovery, server/maintenance replacement, and other projects as required.
  • Ensure all systems are comprehensively documented and information properly archived to meet internal standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Follow working procedures to ensure the provision of a consistently high-quality level of systems implementation and support.
  • Maintain backup systems for all stored information with consideration to sustainability.
  • Keep up to date with developments in the industry to identify opportunities to improve and simplify current ways of working and IT processes.
  • Support the wider IT team in the future development, planning, and implementation of technical systems and infrastructure across the estate.
  • Provide on-call support upon completion of relevant training and development plan.
  • Responsible for ownership of reported issues through to conclusion or appropriate escalation.
  • Provide support to external contractors as required.
  • Assist the IT team in the provision of technical services/support to a major emergency, incident, or special event.
  • Provide an excellent level of service to internal and external customers and stakeholders, ensuring their needs are met and working closely with them to resolve issues in a professional and timely manner.
Requirements
  • Relevant qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Additional professional certifications or training in relevant IT disciplines would be advantageous.
  • Experience of working on or with Microsoft Desktop and Server Operating Systems, Microsoft Azure/Office 365, general server administration and desktop support skills, anti-virus and other protective systems, managed switches, access points, routers, and other network infrastructure.
  • Experience of working on or with firewalls, cyber security, remote access, data backup applications, CCTV systems, access control systems, and telephony would be advantageous.
