Job Title: Consultant Physician with Specialist Interest in Stroke Medicine

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Physician to provide exceptional care to our patients. As a Consultant Physician with a specialist interest in Stroke Medicine, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality medical services to our community.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive Acute Stroke and Stroke Rehabilitation Services, working closely with Consultant Colleagues to ensure seamless care for our patients.
  • Diagnose and treat illnesses for general medical inpatients, utilizing your expertise to provide the best possible outcomes.
  • Participate in the Consultant General Medical Emergency On-Call Rota, providing support and cover for colleagues' annual leave and authorized absences.
  • Clinical supervision of junior medical staff, ensuring adherence to local employment and human resource policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to teaching, examination, and accreditation duties, as well as participating in undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing medical education activities.
About Our Department

Our department is a 24-bedded mixed Hyper Acute, Acute, and Rehabilitation Unit, located near the Emergency and Radiology Departments. We utilize Rapid AI and offer CT perfusion imaging, which enables us to provide rapid and accurate diagnoses for our patients.

Our team is dedicated to delivering exceptional care, and we work closely with a Nurse Consultant, Specialist Nurses, and Therapists to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients. We also have a strong partnership with the Queen Alexandra Hospital, with Consultants rotating to our site on a weekly basis to support our service.

Person Specification
  • MBBS or equivalent qualification.
  • Entry on the GMC specialist register for General Internal Medicine and either Stroke Medicine or Geriatrics via CCT, CESR, or European Community rights.
  • Completed a recognized training program in General Internal Medicine and Care of the Elderly with experience of Stroke Medicine.
  • High level of clinical experience and competence in GIM, Care of the Elderly, and Stroke Medicine.
  • Experience of teaching and training undergraduates, postgraduates, and junior medical staff.
  • Evidence of participation in clinical audit relevant to specialty.
