About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Physician to join our team at the Isle of Wight NHS Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive Acute Stroke and Stroke Rehabilitation Services, as well as general medical care to inpatients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in the 1 in 11 Consultant general medical emergency on-call rota, providing advice and support to colleagues as needed.
  • Cover for colleagues' annual leave and other authorized absences, ensuring seamless continuity of care.
  • Provide clinical supervision to junior medical staff, adhering to local employment and human resource policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to teaching, examination, and accreditation duties, as well as participating in undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing medical education activities.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • MBBS or equivalent qualification.
  • MRCP or equivalent certification.
  • Entry on the GMC specialist register for General Internal Medicine and either Stroke Medicine or Geriatrics via CCT, CESR, or European Community rights.
  • Completed a recognized training program in General Internal Medicine and Care of the Elderly, with experience in Stroke Medicine.
  • Demonstrated high-level clinical experience and competence in GIM, Care of the Elderly, and Stroke Medicine.
  • Experience in teaching and training undergraduates, postgraduates, and junior medical staff.
  • Evidence of participation in clinical audit relevant to specialty.
