We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Physician to join our team in providing exceptional care to patients with stroke and general medical conditions. The successful candidate will have a strong background in General Internal Medicine and Stroke Medicine, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality patient care and leading clinical teams.
Key Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive acute stroke and stroke rehabilitation services, working closely with colleagues to ensure seamless care delivery.
- Diagnose and treat general medical inpatients, utilizing expertise in Geriatrics and Stroke Medicine to inform clinical decision-making.
- Participate in the 1 in 11 Consultant general medical emergency on-call rota, providing advice and support to colleagues as needed.
- Cover for colleagues' annual leave and other authorized absences, ensuring continuity of care for patients.
- Contribute to the clinical supervision of junior medical staff, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
- Engage in teaching, examination, and accreditation duties, sharing expertise with undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing medical education programs.
Our department at St. Mary's Hospital is a 24-bedded mixed Hyper Acute, Acute, and Rehabilitation Unit, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and a dedicated team of clinicians. We utilize Rapid AI and CT perfusion imaging to improve diagnostic confidence and accuracy in hyperacute stroke patients. Our service is supported by a Nurse Consultant, Specialist Nurses, and Therapists, with Consultants from the Queen Alexandra Hospital rotating to St. Mary's on a weekly basis.
