HSEQ Manager – West Sussex

About the Role

Berry Recruitment is seeking an experienced HSEQ Manager to lead and manage the Health, Safety, Environment & Quality department for a leading civil engineering and construction company in West Sussex.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a Quality Management System (QMS) and drive H&S, Environment and Quality standards across the organization.
  • Review and improve existing QMS processes, ensuring compliance with ISO standards and best practices.
  • Monitor and report on KPIs related to HSEQ performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
  • Liaise with stakeholders, including clients, sub-contractors, and suppliers, to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Support the Sustainability Committee in driving environmental performance and developing strategies to reduce carbon emissions.
  • Lead and manage a team to deliver efficient and effective results in H&S, Environment, and Quality.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years' experience in a construction environment, preferably in civil engineering.
  • Proven experience in Quality Management Systems (ISO9001), Environmental Management Systems (ISO14001), and Health & Safety Management Systems (ISO45001).
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to build and manage a high-performing team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Full driving license and CSCS card.
  • A recognized Health & Safety qualification (e.g. IOSH, NEBOSH) and membership of a professional body.
