Job Title: Adult and Child Psychiatrist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Adult and Child Psychiatrist to join our multidisciplinary team at The Copse. As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference to men who have enduring mental health problems.

Main Responsibilities
  • Liaise and collaborate with care co-ordinators, commissioners, families, and carers, and other services/agencies to provide comprehensive care to patients.
  • Implement the Mental Health Act and liaise with the Ministry of Justice as required.
Key Responsibilities

As a Consultant Psychiatrist, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing complex cases and implementing evidence-based treatment plans.
  • Formulating care plans and treatments for individual patient needs.
  • Providing clinical leadership and guidance on treatment effectiveness.

The hospital operates a two-tier on-call system, with first-tier on-call provided by associate specialists and agency on-call. As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will be required to be part of a second-tier hospital on-call as the duty Responsible Clinician.

You will be expected to provide cover for other medical colleagues during leave and other absences, and this is reciprocated.

Person Specification
  • To be successful as an applicant, you will need:
  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • Full GMC registration with a licence to practice.
  • MRCPsych or MRCPsych equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
  • Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients.
  • Section 12(2) approval to work in England and Approved clinician status.
  • Experience in General Adult or rehabilitation settings and have experience of working in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience of working within acute inpatient or community settings, ideally inpatient settings, and have experience in risk assessment and risk management.
