About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Control Engineer to join our team at AG Barr, a leading manufacturer of soft drinks in the UK. As an Electrical Control Engineer, you will play a critical role in supporting and enhancing the functionality of our PLC/HMI and Process automation technology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implementing planned maintenance programmes and schedules to ensure efficiencies are maximised.
  • Analysing line efficiency, wastage and downtime data to identify areas for performance improvement.
  • Carrying out fault diagnosis and repair breakdowns promptly to minimise downtime.
  • Working closely with the Project Engineering Team to deliver key critical elements of the business CAPEX plan.
  • Developing PLC/Network standards to support IT/OT infrastructure with new projects.
  • Maintaining a high standard of control over Management of Change processes internally and when dealing with vendors.
  • Carrying out all duties in accordance with safe working practices and factory hygiene standards.
  • Producing detailed written reports and downtime sheets.
  • Mentoring and training others in PLC, HMI, automated applications and programming.
  • Liaising with external suppliers and contractors relating to automation control, software validation and development.
Requirements
  • Minimum HNC level or equivalent in an Electrical engineering discipline, with a minimum of 5 years experience in Engineering control and automation.
  • Preferably experienced within a multi-skilled food manufacturing or FMCG environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of computerised maintenance systems and processes.
  • Proven knowledge and experience of initiating and implementing continuous improvements, lean manufacturing and Six sigma techniques.
  • Experience of working on Siemens S7 PLC's and TIA Portal.
  • Ability to communicate within smart factory / industry environments.
