We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Editor to join our team at The Banker, a flagship publication of the Financial Times Group. As a key member of our editorial team, you will play a crucial role in driving our editorial coverage and contributing to the development of our publication's strategic direction.

About The Banker

The Banker is a leading source of news, analysis, and data for senior banking professionals globally. With a reputation for insightful and authoritative reporting, we have gained access to the world's most influential decision-makers in banking and policymaking through monthly high-profile interviews and long reads.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive The Banker's news agenda and coach and encourage reporters to get scoops and deepen their sources.
  • Support the editor-in-chief in making strategic decisions about the publication's editorial direction, new formats, and potential new products expanding The Banker's existing suite.
  • Write news, news analysis, and long-form pieces, as required, in addition to commissioning and editing others' work and contributing to The Banker's multimedia output, including videos and podcasts.
  • Commission opinion pieces from the industry and academia that contribute to the understanding of key financial and economic issues.
  • Occasionally travel to attend and report from industry events.
  • Moderate panel discussions organized by The Banker and FT Live as required.
Requirements

We are looking for a journalist with a strong background in covering technology and financial technology, or someone who is keen to develop their skills in this area. You should have a keen eye for detail, excellent writing and editing skills, and the ability to work well under pressure. A strong network of freelance correspondents and a willingness to travel are also essential.
