Job Summary:

Devon County Council is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Family Practitioner to support the Recruitment Assessment and Family Finding Service in the Adopt South West region. This is a 12-month fixed-term maternity cover position that requires a high level of autonomy and a basic understanding of the legal process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting children and families during the adoption process, including building relationships with children's care teams and providing advice and support in adoption.
  • Communicating and negotiating with multi-agency professionals to coordinate the implementation of an adoption plan.
  • Working closely with foster carers and social workers to gain an understanding of the child's past experiences.
  • Keeping up-to-date and accurate electronic records of individual families.
  • Participating in meetings as appropriate in relation to the families being worked with.

Requirements:

  • A level of autonomy and a basic understanding of the legal process.
  • Assertiveness and the ability to provide a level of challenge to ensure positive outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic understanding of the adoption process and the role of a Family Practitioner.
