Company Overview:
Metropolis International, operating under the emap brand for its B2B sector, is a rapidly expanding privately owned media organization with an annual revenue exceeding £50 million. The company is structured into two primary divisions: consumer media and business-to-business media. Our operations encompass print publications, digital content, and a variety of events including awards and conferences, both in-person and virtual. We are actively pursuing opportunities to acquire additional media enterprises and currently employ over 480 professionals across multiple locations.
Role Overview:
The position involves reporting to the Head of Business Partnering and collaborating closely with another Business Partnering Accountant.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure timely and precise month-end reporting, providing detailed analysis of significant variances against budgets and forecasts.
- Support the commercial division through the preparation of forecasts and budgets.
- Facilitate meetings focused on Month-end, Forecast, and Budget reviews.
- Engage in business partnering, offering decision support to divisional Managing Directors.
- Assist in the financial integration of newly acquired businesses and the implementation of new systems and processes.
- Identify and propose efficiencies, cost-saving measures, and revenue enhancement opportunities.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Part Qualified Accountant (CIMA, ACA, or ACCA) with a degree.
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in a commercial environment.
- Preferred experience in a similar role.
- Strong understanding of UK accounting standards and practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficient in IT, particularly financial systems and CRM software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to assess information and processes critically.
- Motivated to build and maintain relationships both internally and externally.
- Proactive approach to business growth and challenging business partners when necessary.
- Commitment to ethical practices and adherence to company policies and financial regulations.

- Commercially minded, with an interest in adding value to management decisions.
- Experience in collaborating with non-financial staff and fostering relationships.

- Excellent proficiency in Excel.

- Successful completion of accountancy exams on the first attempt.
- Academic background (e.g., 2.1 degree or higher).
