Licensing Enforcement Officer

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Licensing Enforcement Officer to join our team at South Gloucestershire Council. As a key member of our Licensing Team, you will play a vital role in ensuring public safety, protecting the environment, and preventing public nuisance.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate complaints and take appropriate enforcement actions, ensuring all communication records, evidence, and information are stored and handled in line with legal guidelines.
- Carry out inspections and surveys, present reports on any matters arising, and take necessary action, including serving notices, taking statements, and issuing formal cautions.
- Inspect and place public notices required to be displayed by applicants and the Licensing Authority.
- Visit licensed premises, traders, and residential dwellings to administer and enforce licensing functions.
- Provide accurate specialist advice to service users on agreed policies, ensuring effective relationships are established and maintained.
- Plan and organise projects and cases to achieve defined council policy outcomes, in accordance with agreed standards and timescales.
Requirements
- Education to degree standard or equivalent, or relevant knowledge and experience.
- Experience of delivering local authority regulatory licensing work or equivalent.
- Appropriate specialist knowledge of licensing and other regulatory related issues, as well as a good understanding of the service delivery environment.
- Ability to manage workload, prioritise, and respond to demands, ensuring customer satisfaction and legislative requirements are met.
- Effective communication skills to interact with service users, professionals, and partnership agencies.
