Job Overview

Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a dedicated full-time (10 PAs) Senior Psychiatric Consultant to join our adolescent inpatient service. Flexible working arrangements can be discussed.

The successful candidate will collaborate with the multidisciplinary team (MDT), fellow professionals, and external organizations to ensure the delivery of safe and effective patient care. Responsibilities will be shared between the two consultants through collaborative job planning.

Our facility, Mill Lodge, features a 10-bed General Acute Unit, providing various interventions, including nasogastric feeding for patients with eating disorders. The candidate must hold Approved Clinician status.

There will also be opportunities for cross-cover between the two consultants with the newly established day service.

About Us

LYPFT has recently revised and increased the starting salary for newly appointed consultants to £105,390 at pay point YC72 point 04.

This position consists of 10 PAs plus a 1% category B availability for out-of-hours on-call duties.

Job Responsibilities

The post holder, with the support of the MDT, will be responsible for:

  • Conducting regular clinical reviews
  • Providing flexibility for urgent clinical assessments
  • Offering clinical input within the Care Programme Approach (CPA) framework
  • Holding Approved Clinician status as defined by the Mental Health Act and fulfilling the duties of Responsible Clinician for patients under their care
  • Managing complex prescribing and reviews
  • Liaising effectively with local mental health providers, local authority professionals, and statutory organizations to ensure safe care and risk management
  • Working intensively and assertively with the client group
  • Contributing to and collaborating with multidisciplinary community teams, ensuring availability and accessibility, and providing support and supervision as needed
  • Collaborating with other services within the Trust and across the Integrated Care System (ICS)
  • Providing professional leadership
  • Offering one hour per week of protected clinical supervision to the Core Trainee
  • Working jointly with the Clinical Leadership Structure, Operations Manager, Head of Operations, and other agencies to ensure successful service delivery

Person Specification

Full GMC Registration, AC approved, and member of RCPsych

Essential Qualifications:

  • On GMC specialist register or within 6 months of CCT/CESR; current AC approval and current member of RCPsych

Clinical Experience:

  • Experience working in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS)

Training Experience:

  • Proven record of teaching and training at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels

Communication Skills:

  • Demonstrated MDT working skills and effective communication abilities
