Overview of the Role

Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a dedicated full-time (10 PAs) Senior Psychiatric Consultant to join our adolescent inpatient unit. Flexible working arrangements can be discussed.

The successful candidate will collaborate with the multidisciplinary team (MDT), fellow professionals, and external organizations to ensure the delivery of safe and effective patient care. Responsibilities will be shared between the two consultants through structured job planning.

The unit comprises a 10-bed General Acute facility, where interventions include specialized treatments for eating disorders. It is essential for the post holder to hold Approved Clinician status.

Additionally, the role will involve providing cross-cover for the innovative new day service that has recently been established.

LYPFT offers a competitive starting salary for newly appointed consultants, beginning at £105,390 at pay point YC72 point 04.

Job Responsibilities

The post holder, supported by the MDT, will be responsible for:

  • Conducting regular clinical assessments
  • Providing flexibility for urgent clinical evaluations
  • Delivering clinical input within the Care Programme Approach (CPA) framework
  • Holding Approved Clinician status as defined by the Mental Health Act and undertaking responsibilities as the Responsible Clinician for patients under their care
  • Managing complex prescribing and reviews
  • Liaising effectively with local mental health providers, local authority professionals, and statutory organizations to ensure safe care and risk management
  • Engaging intensively and assertively with the client group
  • Contributing to and collaborating with multidisciplinary community teams, ensuring availability and accessibility while providing support and supervision when necessary
  • Working collaboratively with other services within the Trust and across the Integrated Care System (ICS)
  • Providing professional leadership
  • Offering one hour of protected clinical supervision weekly to the Core Trainee
  • Collaborating with the Clinical Leadership Structure, Operations Manager, and Head of Operations to ensure successful service delivery

Person Specification

Full GMC Registration, AC approved, and a member of RCPsych

Essential Qualifications

  • On GMC specialist register or within 6 months of CCT/CESR; current AC approval and current membership of RCPsych

Clinical Experience

  • Experience in working within Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS)

Training Experience
