About the Role
LYPFT is pleased to offer an enhanced starting salary for newly appointed consultants, commencing at £105,390 at pay point YC72 point 04.

This role comprises a 10 PA commitment, with an additional 3% availability for out-of-hours on-call responsibilities.

Job Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:

  • Hold RC responsibilities for up to 10 male inpatients under both restricted and unrestricted sections of the Mental Health Act
  • Serve as the consultant psychiatrist for approximately 15 outpatients
  • Conduct access assessments for the Humber Coast and Vale secure provider collaborative
  • Provide risk assessment and management guidance to colleagues in acute services
  • Anticipate conducting around 2 assessments per month
  • Deliver exemplary clinical leadership to the multidisciplinary team, facilitating optimal mental health outcomes, reduced offending risk, social inclusion, and community reintegration
  • Ensure high-quality, efficient, and effective care for service users through a trauma-informed collaborative approach
  • Teach, train, and supervise junior medical staff and other professionals
  • Adhere to the standards set by the GMC and the Royal College of Psychiatrists
  • Participate in the Tees Esk and Wear Valley general adult on-call rota

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential:

  • MBBS
  • Full registration with the General Medical Council and a license to practice
  • CCT or CESR in Forensic or WAA psychiatry (with relevant experience) or expected inclusion on the GMC specialist register within the next 6 months
  • Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists or equivalent
  • Approved under Section 12 (2)
  • Approved Clinician status (anticipated within the next 3 months)

Skills and Experience
Essential:

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team

Academic Skills
Essential:

  • Active involvement in audit and quality improvement initiatives
