About the Position
At Balfour Beatty, we are committed to shaping projects that connect communities and enhance daily life for countless individuals. We are currently seeking a Quality Engineer specializing in Electrical & Instrumentation.
Role Objectives:
- Ensure adherence to all quality protocols and documentation in accordance with project specifications.
- Assist the Quality Manager in delivering compliant, high-quality projects that align with regulatory and customer-defined standards.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Quality Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
- Implementing all systems effectively in line with the Business Management System (BMS), covering document control, risk management, and QA/QC procedures.
- Developing relevant Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
- Creating and updating Quality Plans.
- Managing the compilation of quality records concurrently.
- Updating the quality schedule in alignment with the project delivery timeline.
- Collaborating with the Construction Manager to ensure clear agreement on project specifications.
- Contributing to the development of Project Quality strategies and implementing measurement frameworks throughout the project lifecycle.
- Assisting with external audits to maintain certifications and promote continuous improvement.
- Providing recommendations for quality improvement and sharing best practices.
- Conducting testing and inspection services for procured materials and equipment as necessary.
- Utilizing quality assurance principles to ensure customer requirements are understood and that Quality Control mechanisms are effectively in place.
- Generating project and business quality reports as needed.
- Supporting the training and development of quality skills within the Construction team.
- Conducting investigations and reporting on quality-related issues as required.
- Implementing Short Interval Control, including daily review meetings and weekly reporting via BIM 360.
- Completing safety observation cards, targeting one per week, recorded on the BB APP.
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Experience in quality assurance within the electrical nuclear sector.
- Significant practical experience in quality management in a relevant industry.
- Expertise in building quality management frameworks and KPI measurement.
- Ability to deliver reports in an objective and convincing manner.
- Curiosity and a questioning approach to audit work.
- Electrical experience in ITPs, FATs, inspections, and system handover.
- City & Guilds Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications.
- Possession of a CSCS/JIB card or equivalent certification.
