About the Role

The Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled Quality Improvement Specialist to join our Quality Improvement (QI) Team. As an Improvement Advisor, you will play a pivotal role in building the Trust's QI capacity and capability, providing coaching and training to staff, and supporting key QI projects to maximize opportunities for improvement and learning.

Main Responsibilities
  • Develop and Deliver QI Curriculum: Design and implement a comprehensive QI curriculum, including classroom training, virtual training, on-the-job training, e-learning, and self-directed study, to equip staff with the necessary skills and knowledge to drive improvement.
  • Provide Leadership and Improvement Expertise: Offer guidance and support to allocated divisions within the Trust, helping to develop QI infrastructure and planning, and promoting QI support across specific divisions.
  • Oversee Targeted QI Campaigns: Lead and manage targeted QI campaigns for Trust priorities, ensuring all campaigns are adequately resourced, have a clear scope, and appropriate implementation plans.
  • Contribute to the Development of the Improvement Approach: Collaborate with the QI Team to raise the profile and support the development of the CNWL QI website, promoting the Trust's commitment to quality improvement.
  • Programme Manage Priority Programmes: Manage identified priority programmes, liaising with the SRO for the central programme and establishing programme governance, structure, reports, and documentation.

Essential Qualifications

  • A Master's degree in a relevant field or an equivalent level combination of Post Graduate degree plus further experience and specialist training.
  • Evidence of ongoing Continued Professional Development.
  • An Improvement qualification or accreditation.

Desirable Qualifications

  • A Teaching or training qualification.
  • A Coaching qualification.
  • A Project management qualification.
  • Q membership.
Essential Experience

Leading Significant Projects

  • Experience of leading significant projects that have led to quantifiable improvements.
  • Experience of using improvement tools and techniques in a complex service environment.
  • Experience of developing and maintaining project documentation in a project management environment.
  • Experience of managing change in a complex multi-stakeholder environment.
  • Experience of facilitating workshops and events.
  • Experience of designing training programmes and evaluation frameworks.
  • Experience of delivering teaching and training.
  • Experience of coaching and mentoring teams in improvement methods.
  • Experience of service development, planning, and policy development.
  • Experience of working within a multi-cultural framework.
  • Experience of using statistical methods in evaluating performance (SPC).

Desirable Experience

  • Experience of multi-professional management of teams or services within the designated specialty.
  • Involvement in research programmes or projects.
  • Experience of commissioning training and development programmes.
Skills and Knowledge

Essential

  • Demonstrates an understanding of the health service national drivers and their practical application to service delivery.
  • In-depth knowledge of quality and service improvement methods, including, but not limited to: Model for Improvement, Lean, demand and capacity modelling, Problem solving, Patient co-production.
  • Advanced facilitation, negotiation, and influencing skills.
  • Ability to develop and deliver high-quality training programmes and relevant materials (including virtual training).
  • Proven ability to communicate clearly in difficult and complex situations.
  • Good organisational, self-management, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to meet agreed/specified service targets.
  • Skills in individual and group work and in programme planning.
  • High standard of advanced report writing for internal and external reporting.
  • Highly developed understanding of other professionals' theoretical perspectives and clinical reasoning.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Advanced keyboard and computer skills.

Desirable

  • Highly developed knowledge of the theory and practice of specialized (service area).
  • Experience of leading and carrying out research projects and interpreting data using statistical analyses.
