Position Overview

This role presents an excellent opportunity to join the Patient Estates/Financial Accounting Team at Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust.

Your primary responsibility will involve engaging with Patients/Service Users within the Trust, addressing their financial inquiries, and managing complex situations with professionalism and efficiency.

In this capacity, you will deliver a confidential, effective, and courteous service to Staff, Service Users & Relatives, Suppliers & Customers.

Compensation

Salary is B4 (£25,147 - £27,596) per annum (pro-rata).

Key Responsibilities

  • Engagement with patients is incidental.
  • Support patients/clients during incidental interactions, offering non-clinical guidance/information to patients/clients/relatives.
  • Manage all financial matters concerning patients within the Trust, effectively handling challenging situations.
  • Oversee the efficient functioning of financial systems related to patient funds and cashiering responsibilities, including interest allocation, monthly reconciliations, and petty cash management.
  • Implement policies and suggest modifications to operational practices and procedures, particularly in light of new legislation.
  • Demonstrate work routines to others in your area and allocate tasks to junior staff; provide training for new team members.
  • Keep the Assistant Financial Accountant informed of significant issues pertinent to the role.
  • Deliver exceptional service to all relevant users and perform all associated duties in accordance with professional standards.
  • Assume additional responsibilities commensurate with salary and band, collaborating with the Trust to evolve the role to meet organizational needs.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • A good standard of education, having achieved at least 5 O levels or equivalent, including a minimum of grade C in Maths and English.
  • Ideally, 2 years of experience in a financial environment.

Desirable

  • Experience within the NHS or public sector.
  • Familiarity with finance computer systems and ledgers.
  • Some experience working directly with Patients/Service Users.
  • Experience in cash handling and/or petty cash processes.
