Job Title: Mechanical Fitter/Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter/Engineer to join our team at a leading drinks manufacturing company in Wythenshawe. The successful candidate will work on a day shift pattern, with business hours from 7:30am to 5:00pm.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform mechanical preventative and reactive maintenance work in an industrial environment, focusing on equipment such as gearboxes, pumps, mechanical seals, pipework, mixing tanks, bagging lines, conveyors, palletising machines, fans, motors, and bearings.
  • Diagnose and rectify equipment breakdowns, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal production.
  • Strip down and reassemble equipment, including pumps, gearboxes, motors, fans, and bearings.
  • Install and modify mechanical plant and machinery, adhering to safety protocols and industry standards.
  • Fabricate and weld stainless pipework using the onsite workshop.
  • Interpret equipment drawings, manuals, and technical information to ensure accurate maintenance and repairs.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience in a similar mechanical maintenance role.
  • A formal qualification in an engineering discipline.
  • Experience within the FMCG industry is advantageous.
  • Engineering project experience is desirable.
  • Good mechanical knowledge of conveyors, palletisers, compressors, blow moulding, and injection moulding.
