Position Overview
We invite you to be part of an exciting phase in the evolution of Critical Care services.
With the establishment of University Hospitals Dorset, we are advancing innovative and ambitious plans to develop a state-of-the-art 30 Bed Critical Care Unit aimed at serving the healthcare needs of our community.
Our location is surrounded by stunning natural landscapes, offering numerous opportunities for outdoor activities such as driving, walking, running, swimming, or cycling in picturesque areas. The vibrant atmosphere of a university town provides a diverse selection of dining options, cultural venues, and recreational activities, while the nearby coastal areas are perfect for water sports and leisurely dining experiences.
We offer excellent transport connections, ensuring easy access to various destinations.
Our team operates on a 12-hour shift basis, with all personnel expected to participate in both day and night rotations.
While 12 months of acute care experience is preferred, a commitment to delivering exceptional nursing care and a passion for continuous learning are essential attributes.
Location: Bournemouth with cross-site responsibilities

Essential Qualifications
- Effective communication skills with staff, patients, and their families.
Knowledge Requirements
- Strong foundation in the care of critically ill patients, along with the ability to educate and supervise.
Technical Skills Competencies
- Proficient in managing critical infusions.
- Experience in a management role within an acute ward setting at Band 5 level.
Experience Requirements
- Proven experience in managing critically ill patients in a ward environment.
Qualifications
- Registered General Nurse (RGN) with first-level registration.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience in a specialized area of care.
