Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Clinical Pharmacist to join our Critical Care team at North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust. As a key member of our pharmacy team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our clinical pharmacy services.

Main Responsibilities
  • Manage and deliver the pharmacy critical care service, working closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Develop and maintain the hospital formulary, ensuring that it is up-to-date and aligned with best practice.
  • Provide training and education to clinical staff on critical care skills and medication management.
  • Act as a trainee pharmacist tutor/diploma mentor, supporting the development of junior pharmacists.
  • Contribute to the writing and checking of pharmacy information bulletins, ensuring that they are accurate and relevant.
  • Lead and develop the clinical pharmacy service in critical care, ensuring that it is safe, effective, and efficient.
  • Provide regular ward pharmacy commitments, ensuring that patients receive high-quality care and that the pharmacy service is running smoothly.
  • Support the clinical pharmacy services, dispensary, production, and medicines management program as needed.
  • Lead on and contribute to relevant practice research or audit projects, publishing the results as appropriate.

Requirements
  • MRPharmS or equivalent and registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
  • Completion of a postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy/Pharmacy Practice or equivalent.
  • Mandatory continuing professional development to maintain fitness to practice.
  • Relevant hospital experience, including staff management and leadership.
  • Ability to manage and supervise staff, lead and implement change, and deal directly with patients, clinicians, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Experience of managing or advising on drug expenditure, understanding of formulary and DUR, and clinical trial issues.
  • Understanding of risk management with medicines usage process.

  • Ability to work under pressure, with effective verbal and written communication skills and good presentation skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate clinical knowledge and application, innovate and implement change, and lead service.
  • Ability to motivate, influence, and persuade senior pharmacy and medical staff, the multidisciplinary team, and management.
  • Ability to work with colleagues as part of a team, resolve conflict, and monitor service provision.
  • Flexibility with regard to changes in work schedule, ability to work flexible and unsocial hours, and participate in out-of-hours services.
