Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Locum Consultant in Cardiac Anaesthesia to join our team at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality cardiac anaesthesia services, including daytime cover and on-call rota responsibilities.
  • Share responsibility with other Consultants for providing 24/7 cover for the Unit on a rota basis.
  • Provide clinical supervision of junior medical staff as a shared responsibility with other consultant colleagues.
  • Take an active role in the formulation, implementation, and monitoring of the department's/Division's Business Plan.
  • Ensure compliance with Trust infection prevention and control policies.
  • Be accountable for implementation of the Code of Practice within own department/area of responsibility.
Requirements
  • Full Registration with GMC and completed subspecialty training programme in anaesthesia or within 6 months of completion or equivalent experience.
  • Wide experience and accredited training in most aspects of anaesthesia, including cardiothoracic surgery.
  • Advanced cardiac training/fellowship and experience in TOE (transoesophageal echocardiography).
  • Accreditation in TOE (transoesophageal echocardiography).
  • Experience in day-to-day organisation of Pain and Anaesthetic services in a busy NHS Hospital.
  • Experience in day-to-day organisation of anaesthetic services in a busy Teaching Hospital.
  • Familiarity with current structure of Health Service and conversant with recent initiatives and changes.
  • Thorough understanding of principles of medical audit.
  • Must have undertaken and completed audit projects.
  • Experience of clinical research.
  • Publication of relevant peer-reviewed papers in the field of Anaesthesia/ transplantation.
  • Experience of undergraduate and post-graduate teaching and exam preparation.
