Assistant Professor in Computer/Electronics Engineering Technology

The Department of Technology at Norfolk State University seeks a highly qualified candidate for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Computer/Electronics Engineering Technology. The successful candidate will teach and develop undergraduate Engineering Technology courses, develop partnerships with industry firms, contribute to program and curriculum development, advise/mentor students, and participate in ongoing assessment and accreditation activities.
Responsibilities- Teach and develop undergraduate Engineering Technology courses, including digital electronics, electronic devices, electronic circuits, industrial control systems, programmable logic controllers, embedded systems/micro-controllers, computer networks, and wireless communications systems.
- Develop partnerships with industry firms to assure internships and field trips for students.
- Contribute to program and curriculum development.
- Advise/mentor students and participate in recruitment activities.
- Demonstrate self-motivation to engage with industry on applied research projects.
- Participate in ongoing assessment and accreditation activities.
- Perform scholarly activities and submit grant proposals for external funding to acquire financial support.
- An earned Ph.D. degree in Electrical, Electronics, Computer Engineering, or closely related field.
- An earned Master's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Computer Engineering, or closely related field.
- An earned B.S. degree in Electrical, Electronics, Computer Engineering, or closely related field.
- Demonstrable track record of successful teaching and scholarship.
- Good communication skills; and must have a strong commitment to teaching excellence and ability to work collaboratively with others.
