Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Investment Oversight Analyst to enhance our dynamic team.

Margetts operates as an Authorised Corporate Director (ACD) for a diverse portfolio of UK UCITS and NURS Collective Investment Schemes. This position is centered on the supervision of these schemes and their designated Investment Advisers.

The Investment Oversight Analyst will function within the Investment Oversight division and report directly to the Investment Oversight Manager. This division is accountable for the investment and risk supervision of all funds and their respective managers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily assessments of pertinent Investment and Borrowing Powers and prospectus regulations, collaborating with the Compliance team and investment managers as necessary.
  • Assist in the analysis and formulation of recommendations for the annual Assessment of Value report.
  • Facilitate the execution and continuous enhancement of due diligence protocols for both new and existing Investment Advisers.
  • Create high-quality Management Information (MI) and pursue process improvements.
  • Prepare MI for Committee meetings that address topics such as Investment Risk, Valuation, and Liquidity Oversight.
  • Contribute to the establishment of Business As Usual (BAU) processes and ongoing project initiatives.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience in an investment oversight or analyst role within a regulated environment.
  • Familiarity with ACD/AFM operations and associated functions, including depositary, fund pricing, and compliance.
  • Comprehension of key investment risks and methodologies for their assessment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Awareness of industry regulations, including the FCA's COLL sourcebook.
  • Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of controls and propose suitable enhancements.
  • Capacity to challenge internal and external experts when necessary.
  • Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and financial data software (Morningstar, Bloomberg, FE).
  • Relevant professional qualifications such as IOC, IMC, CFA, or CISI.
  • Upon completion of a probationary period, there will be an expectation to pursue and complete the Investment Management Certificate (IMC) qualification to demonstrate fundamental investment knowledge and competence.

Margetts is an Authorised Corporate Director (ACD) managing several ranges of regulated retail funds totaling approximately £9 billion. The managed funds encompass multi-manager, direct equity, mixed investments, derivatives, and property.

An ACD is sanctioned by the Financial Conduct Authority to establish and oversee Collective Investment Schemes (Funds). Responsibilities include maintaining a register of investors, managing client money settlements, arranging asset custody, and valuing fund assets to establish buying and selling prices. Margetts focuses on retail investors and offers fund management for various Multi-Manager funds.
